PICNIC IN THE PARK

July 21st 2021

Callington Town Forum CIC is proud to announce its free:

“PICNIC IN THE PARK’

Sunday 8th August 2021

12:30pm – 4.00pm

Saltash Road Recreational Ground

We are delighted to tell you all that we are in the process of arranging a FREE event for all.

We think it’s time to sit back, relax and have some free fun.  We have seen our normal way of life completely disrupted and have had to adapt to very changing circumstances. Our local heroes have stepped up and made life much safer and more bearable for us, medical staff, delivery drivers, shop workers, voluntary organisations and let’s not forget good neighbours have all gone that extra mile for our Community.

We have so much to be thankful for here in Callington, we live in a beautiful area with a wonderful Community spirit, and we also live in a country that had the infrastructure and the financial resources to protect, as far as possible, its people. This pandemic has had a very serious effect on families and in particular, children.  With that in mind, Callington Town Forum CIC, with support from Callington Town Council, has decided that our wonderful community deserves a day out.

We have arranged a PICNIC IN THE PARK event to take place on Sunday 8th August, from 12:30pm until 4.00pm.  Please bring along your own picnic (sorry no alcohol allowed as the park is an alcohol free zone), something to sit on and join us for an afternoon of free entertainment.  The picnic will be opened by our new Portreeve Councillor Mike Tagg who will be introduced by our very own Town Crier, Councillor Tony Stentiford.

There will then be lots of activities to choose from such as a one hour children’s Magic Show by Billy Wizz, Merlyn a ventriloquist who will wander around with her puppets interacting with children, playing tricks etc. We will also have music from the Town Band and the Gospel Choir as well as a Lucky Dip, Messy Church craft activities, Open Book and Circus Skills. For those of you who are still hungry, there will be hot Paella on sale, tea, coffee and, hopefully, ice cream.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our whole Community to get together in an area large enough to allow us to communicate, have fun together and get to know new people without having to be too close together if we don’t want to be. Let’s make the most of this celebration and have a wonderful completely free, afternoon out together.

Bring your whole family, your neighbours and if you know of someone who has just moved into our area, bring them along too. Look out for the advertising posters that are going to appear very soon on a lamppost near you.

Why have we organised this community event? BECAUSE YOU’RE WORTH IT!
