The run-up to Christmas is a special family highlight in the Town. The main event is the arrival of Santa to help switch on the Town’s Christmas lights. It’s a busy day for him as he is also in his Grotto, handing out presents to the children. There’s also the chance to sing carols around the newly lit tree and why not take the “oldies” along to the family disco in the Town Hall to let them see you in your fancy dress?
On the same day (the first Saturday in December) there is also a Christmas Fayre in the Town Hall and the open-air Victorian Pannier Market with its stalls and entertainment.
New in 2013 – but sure to become an annual Christmas event – was the fancy dress Santa Fun Run in aid of local charity CHICKS. It’s never too soon to get into training!
