Plymouth Brethren Cemetery [closed], Not maintained.

Civic Cemetery [Open], owned and maintained by the Callington Town Council and currently contains over 4000 interments.  For all enquiries or to reserve a plot, please contact the Town Council offices on 01579 384039

Callington is one of the very few towns (or parish) in Cornwall to be a Burial Authority (i.e. has control over its own Cemetery). Callington’s Cemetery is located on Liskeard Road which has fantastic views over Caradon and Kit Hill, it also has its own Chapel which was fully refurbished in 2007 thanks to substantial grant funding.  Callington Heritage Centre and the Town Band both enjoy rent-free accomodation within the Chapel but it is available for private funeral ceremonies.

The Cemetery was opened in 1874, originally residents were either buried in the consecrated section if Church of England or the unconsecrated section if Non Conformist. Today there is no such division.

There are two allotment sites within Callington. The Haye Road site is owned by the Town Council, the Launceston Road site is owned by the Trust for ‘The Labouring Poor of Callington’. Both sites are administered by Callington Town Council.

Launceston Road / South Hill Road site.

South Hill Allotment

Located on the junction of Launceston Road and South Hill Road (behind the Fire Station.) It consists of over 60 plots.

The Launceston Road site is owned by the Trust for ‘The Labouring Poor of Callington’.  South Hill Road tenants may apply for a second plot but priority is always given to those without plots.

Haye Road site.

Haye Road Allotments

Located on Haye Road (entrance is on the right just past the Health Centre). It consists of over 60 plots

Both sites are usually fully subscribed. Should you wish to go on the waiting list for either site please contact the Town Hall.

A strictly first come first served policy is enforced.

On either site, priority is always given to residents of Callington and Kelly Bray.  As it is very unlikely that residents of other Parishes will be granted tenancy it is strongly recommended that you apply through your own Parish or Town Clerk.

Pannier Market

Callington’s Pannier Market is owned by the Callington Town Council and is located behind the Town Hall (entrance between John Smith Tyres and the Spa shop off of Fore Street).

Parking is restricted to Pannier Market customers only with a time limit of 30 minutes (this applies to disabled badge holders as well as other motorists). The area is regularly patrolled by the Parking Enforcement Officer. For longer stays there is ample free parking  at the top of Saltash Road Recreation Ground or in Cornwall Council’s pay & display car parks outside the B&M store or opposite in New Road.
