Callington Town Council, with the support of The Lions Club of Callington, have recently been revamping Rosemullion Gardens Park in Callington. The Town Council secured some funding to enable this project to move forward and the Lions Club were very willing to help the Town Council with this project.
The Council’s funding enabled them to employ a local artist, Brad Waters, to design a bright and engaging mural to go on the wall in the park suitable for young children. The Lions power washed the wall and painted the base coat ready for Brad to paint. Whilst the Lions were in the park they cleaned all the equipment; cut back the vegetation and weeded the whole area. There was also some funding available to erect a wooden panel fencing in front of the old wire fencing. This has helped with the security of the area for the youngsters, thanks to JJ’s Garden Products.
This has been a real community project thanks to the Lions, Brad, John and Town Council Outside Services staff, all working together for the benefit of local youngsters. The Park is now looking brighter, cleaner, more secure and welcoming for youngsters to use.
The Park was reopened by Portreeve & Mayor of Callington, Steve Pound and some local youngsters on Tuesday 30th July with invited guests also present. Everyone present was very impressed by the mural designed by Brad and the final outcome of the make-over.
